Dj Business Start Up Secrets: How To Start A Dj Business

I have talked with a lot of would-be DJ’s over the years. What is the most common question I hear from them? “What do I need to start a DJ business?” That makes sense, because most people think a DJ has tons of equipment, knowledge, and other stuff. But the truth is that you really don’t need much to get started. Almost anybody can start a mobile DJ business for under 00 and a little bit of time. Here’s what you need to know:

Let’s start with equipment. This is what people tend to believe is most important in the DJ business. Not true. DJ’s have a wide variety of equipment options, and you will rarely see 2 guys/gals running the same setup. Basically, you will need speakers, a power source, and a sound source. Lights are optional, so we won’t even cover that here. Your speakers might include their own power, or you might need a separate power amp. Your sound source can be a CD player, iPod, laptop, or even a true dual deck player like many DJ’s are using these days. Equipment-wise, that’s about it.

The real kicker is music. You have to develop a large music library that covers all genres, eras, etc. If you DJ a high school prom, you have to own the appropriate music for those kids. If you DJ a 50 year reunion, you will need a very different playlist for that event. Get the idea? You need it all. Sure, you could try to limit yourself to events where the music fits your personal tastes, but you want to make money. Cutting out certain kinds of music means cutting your pay drastically. So own it all and play it all. Grow your library constantly!

Lastly, you will need some business savvy. That’s the part that scares most people out of getting started. They think the business must be complicated or everyone would be doing it, right? Not at all true. This business is simple. All you really need is a drive to be successful. You have to want success. Do you want that kind of freedom and satisfaction out of your job? If so, then you are halfway there. The rest can be learned on the battlefield.

Be confident, be prepared, and you will find that the mobile DJ business is really not difficult. If you cover your equipment, music, and you really want to be a DJ, you are already off to a great start.

Mobile Dj Equipment Tips For Your Business

Mobile DJing can be one of the most-exciting (and lucrative) career choices around.  If you have a passion for music, and love to see that crowd dancing to YOUR beats, than why not get paid big bucks to start your mobile DJ business?

Unfortunately, one of the hurdles that stops potential deejays dead in their tracks is their lack of knowledge (and capital) on DJ equipment.   You need to have great equipment to impress your guests and put on a quality show, but you don’t need to spend  an arm and a leg to get started.  In fact, the best thing is to buy inexpensive equipment and slowly re-invest in new gear as you book more and more events.

The following tips will help you choose the right DJ equipment for your business.

Let’s first start with the basic necessities that every DJ should have. You need a sound source where you should put on and play your music or playlists(CD player or iPod), speakers, and music. You can start simple using a laptop with iTunes.  But make sure to  organize your music with there genre so you can easily reference the right song when it is requested. You also need to keep on top of the best music: what is hot, what is not, etc.

The next step is to choose the right speakers.  Obviously grabbing your home speakers is not a goo ideal.  You need a speakers that are “PRO” quality. The guests want to feel the ground shake and the walls vibrate when you are blasting their favorite song!   A good choice is to have at least 12 drivers for speakers.  This will set you back about 0-300.00.

Next we need to power the speakers. You need an amp with enough juice to pump out that music.

A good set of high-quality headphones are also a must.

Next we need to connect the sound source and the speakers, they need a mixer. Since we can simply choose a laptop or mp3 player, we need to add up a costs to buy for a mixer at around or more for a decent starter piece.

More equipment may also be added to your mobile dj business arsenal. These include drum machines,  samplers, a good effects processors, lighting kits, and a computerized performance system.

You might know that the increase in the demand for a mobile dj business equipment has to show you the way to an increase in the production.

Try to get the most out of your investment buy purchasing the basic equipments needs for your business. And when your profits begin to increase, you can easily re-invest for the upgrades or change to the best of more than the previous best equipments that you had.

How to Let Music Take You to Your Dream

Music is healing to the soul, and as you listen to it, understanding these concepts will show you how to let music take you to your dream. In your dream, you may be connected to the wonderful, creative spirit or flow of life suggesting a degree of inner harmony and emotional expression.

Music is about quality, and whether it’s mainstream or underground is irrelevant because it is an art form whose medium is sound. In the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was sound. Because sound created everything in the universe, music is an expression of harmony in sound.

According to a dream dictionary definition: Hearing harmonious and soothing music in your dream is a good omen of prosperity, pleasure and the expression of your emotions in a positive way. Further, seeing sheet music in your dream, represents sensuality and a desire for harmony, especially in some waking relationship.

I am not speaking literally of music taking you to your dream…but also in contrast, to allow music to elevate you towards your aspirations, desires, your natural environment and access to your soul as well.

This is the link to your dream as it is composed and performed for many purposes ranging from aesthetic pleasure, religious or ceremonial purposes, or as an entertainment product for the marketplace. In which, all is experienced by individuals in a range of social settings ranging from being alone to attending a concert.

Music is my love and my life. An expression of where I have come from, an expression that all can embrace, interpret, and feel; and one that will never die and will constantly be created, re-created and expanded.

Music is alive within me and allows me to deliver my messages to the world. It is what brings me the closest to God. I can depend on it when nothing else in life is trustworthy. It is a part of me, my sanity, and my passion.

It is the way to escape the physical world and express emotions. Therefore, it is not simple but very complex in meaning. It is not only passion, but communication, discovery, learning, and creativity.

Music is an expression from the heart, a passion that fills everyone’s soul with an emotion. It is so diverse that it means something different to each listener and composer. It is an experience, a growth, or something that is energizing, exciting and expressive. It is the one thing that can keep people connected because it is a universal language. It is just who we are.

It can be an antidote to release all stress and issues in life. It is a great way to tell a person that you love them, or tell a multitude how you feel. Music is love in search of a word and can be a key to the heart.

It is the vernacular of the human soul and is every wondrous canyon in a miracle’s dream. It is the abysmal rainbow that bridges endless galaxies, your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom.

Music is the voice through which spirit speaks; using a language that is beyond words it is the cry of life and death at birth and conception, the heart beat, the pulse, the healer and the healed, the color portrait, the magical stone and the magical mists living side by side in a dream.

The Broadway Musical ‘Hair’ is Still Very Influential

The Broadway musical ‘Hair’ is still very influential in the world of stage and film. In fact, it is undergoing a revival from Ghostlight Records. It is truly a landmark show and the musical theater movie soundtrack is one that everyone in America should experience at least once, if they can leave it at once. The original Hair recording from 1968 was re-released again in 2003 by RCA Victor. This included, on a separate CD, the recording of the 1967 Off-Broadway cast.

The musical theater movie soundtrack from the 1979 movie version is still a pop culture favorite. When compared to the other version, it more than holds it’s own. The choreography in the movie was fantastic as well. When mixed with the soundtrack it was a ‘happening’ to say the least. Many find the pubic hair picture on the cover to be offensive. But it speaks of the defiance of that time. There are many versions of this Broadway musical turned movie available out there. Some songs have been added to specific versions, and others omitted. But the overall quality and message remains. As long as Hair lives, then the times that inspired will live on as well.

One of the biggest influences in the music of this famous Broadway musical is the sounds of Galt McDermot. His compelling melodious ‘funk’ is a defining characteristic of the musical production. The recent revival of Hair on Broadway has brought yet another score of reviews. Many feel that this new Broadway production has intensified the dramatic clarity of the former Central Park production. The music along with it’s great choreography have become one of the most sought after Broadway musicals of our day. Ticket sales from the revival of Hair continue to rise.

Its director, Diane Paulus, and the choreographer, Karole Armitage, managed to make a wonderful and powerful theatrical fusion, with an expression of passion that saturates the whole production. The elements of the musical theater movie soundtrack are sometimes added to and taken away from in other versions, but the basic message and tones still remain to move the audience in the direction intended. It’s been handled wonderfully and its message kept intact. Nothing is lost in the various versions of this Broadway musical turned movie success.

The current production of the Broadway musical is blessed with a most talented cast. As keeping with the attitudes of that day, there are those who question the commercial transfer of Hair. They wonder why someone would pay to see what was shown for free in the park. But the answer is clear; everybody doesn’t live in New York. And even if they did, not everyone is able to make the show. Many see it as a heavy favorite for winning a Tony Award in the category of ‘Best Revival of a Musical’. One thing for sure, this play, movie, and musical theater movie soundtrack, will be entertaining people for years to come. It’s resilience has been proven, and it’s future is sure.

You can find out more about the musical theater movie soundtrack and facts about this Broadway musical on sites like ‘everything I know I learned from musicals’ and ‘Hair’.

Attention Music Lovers: Discover A Little Known Business You Can Start In The Music Industry That Will Put Hundreds Of Dollars In Your Pocket Weekly

Let’s face it. The music industry has been deteriorating lately. With pirated songs online, and the economy in ruins, people just aren’t forking over their money to buy CD’s. But there is one section of the music industry that has been silently humming along, despite the economy (and their CD sales are still going strong). That section is the local music industry.

Local bands are still enjoying a steady stream of new work and many sell their own CD’s at the clubs they play around town. Not surprisingly, in order to get gigs and to increase their revenue, these bands need to make demo tapes and CD’s for their fans. To do this, they need a recording studio.

Now, most people don’t have a recording studio in their home. And that’s where you come in. If you have a spare section of your garage, or perhaps a spare bedroom, you can literally create a home studio of your own, one that could be generating cash for you in as little as 30 days.

With the many bands and aspiring musicians in every local town in the country, it makes sense that this would be an area that is thriving – and it is. Smart entrepreneurs have tapped into this lucrative market and are quietly raking in the dough every week.

There are lots of benefits to this type of business. The first is that you are targeting a hungry crowd. It’s similar to when the gold rush happened in California. The miners looking for the gold weren’t the ones who got rich. It was the business owners who supplied them with the tools they needed to mine that became extremely wealthy.

The music industry is its own pot of gold. There are always new bands forming and aspiring musicians are everywhere. Also, a majority of the bands will split up and then form another band with new members. It’s literally a revolving door of potential customers, no matter how small your town.

Another benefit to this type of business is that it can be started on a shoestring and up and running very quickly. If you started from scratch with no previous equipment, you could have everything you need for under 0. With just this basic equipment, you could have your first client within 3 days.

You can also do it on a part time basis while still holding down a regular job. As your income grows, you can decide when you want to ditch your job and go full time. You can easily make between 0-0/day, so it probably won’t take long before you decide to say goodbye to your boss. The typical recording studio can easily pull in 0,000/year.

Contrary to popular belief, the technical requirements for owning a studio are very simple. You can learn everything you need to know in under 3 hours and even novices can command high prices for their studio. Then of course there are the bonuses. You get to hang out with bands all day and become a ‘rock star’ in your own right. It’s a pretty cool way to make a living, isn’t it?

Home recording studio owners have been quietly raking in the cash for years. It’s one of the most stable, and lucrative businesses in the music industry, not to mention one of the most enjoyable.

Provided you get a little guidance on the set up, your home recording studio business should be up and running – and thriving – in no time.

The best way to promote your music Online for Free

If your band is seeking to make a break into the competitive world of the recording industry, getting your name out into the public eye can often be very difficult.  Recording studios rarely sign contracts with unknown bands because the music industry operates on popularity.  If a band isn’t achieving some level of local success, then the big record companies assume that they just aren’t what the listening public is interested in hearing.  To break this cycle, many bands are turning to online media as a method of promoting their music and building their fan base.  If your band is trying to make a name for itself, online promotion of your music can be your best option.

Promoting your music to the online audience is a fairly simple process.  By following certain methods, you can quickly gain a large following for your band and its sound.  With the Internet being a global source of information and entertainment, putting your band into the digital world may create markets for your music that were not available in the past.

*  Make a music video.

Video sharing sites, like YouTube, Vimeo and VideoEgg, are cropping up all over the Internet.  Offering a great place to share short user created videos, these sites put the music video within easy reach.  Grab your digital video camera, or even your web cam, and capture your bands performance.  Using a video editor, you can add some extra effects like titles and contact information for your band.  Once you are finished editing, simply upload the video to the site and then spread the word.  Does it work?  Ask 12 year old, Mallory Ownbey, whose YouTube video of her performance at the local Farmington Festival Days caught the eye of  Guy Harris from Wasatch Records.  She was signed to record a four song demo and is now recording her fifth song with the label.

*  Tweet like a bird

Twitter is an excellent way to spread the word about your music and activities.  When you post videos, make certain to tweet the links to them and don’t be afraid to ask your followers to give feedback.  If your followers know that you are interested in their opinions, they are more likely to check out your videos.  You can also use Twitter to tell everyone where your next performance will be and news related to your band.  You never know what big record label or talent agent may be following your tweets or connected to someone who is.

*  Socialize

Social media, like Facebook, MySpace, Tagged and similar applications, are extremely popular web applications.  People flock to these sites to see who they know and who they want to learn more about.  If your band is trying to get noticed by the big recording companies, you need to put up profiles on social media sites.  Make sure your profiles are interesting to read and look at by including information about your band and musical style, as well as pictures from your performances.

A Beguiners Guide To The Business Of Music

The music industry is just one sector within the creative industries but one with a global economy. Other sectors within the creative industries include film, TV and radio.

The music industry itself has many departments that all work together to create an end result.  The end product itself derives from intellectual property which the owner/creator is responsible for protecting.

This can be done through the process of copyright protection.

Some of the departments in the music industry are production, management, business affairs/legal, promotion, marketing, live and publishing.

The first stage of creating music is with the lyrical and musical content, this is usually rehearsed and practiced until ready for production.

Production is where music would be recorded, mixed and edited until the desired end result is achieved. Professionals involved would be a producer, sound engineer, assistant engineer and a master engineer. Most records are produced and recorded in a recording studio.

A record label itself has many departments that combine to help make artists successful. A&R are responsible for finding new talent and help to develop artists artistically. Some record labels will also manage artists although this can be done by someone of the artists choice, outside of the label. Managers are mainly responsible for helping make arrangements regarding tours, release dates and arranging and organizing most elements that go alongside this. There is a business affairs/legal department that will help draw up contracts and arrange legalities regarding receiving revenue and performance rights.

Marketing and promotion are responsible for exposing the music to it’s target audience to help make it as successful as possible. This may include digital marketing such as online and non-digital such as posters and flyers.

Live is where I personally think all the fun is. This can be one-off gigs to world-wide tours depending on the demand and choices that each artist makes. Tours such as Madonna and U2 have had, what seems to be, a never ending budget regarding production costs and therefore the amount they then charge for a ticket. Live performances really can give an all round atmosphere of the artist and an opportunity to see them shine.

Positive Effects of Christmas Music for Children

Just as November slips into December and the winds get a little wintry, there is a sudden spurt of enthusiasm in the atmosphere. You can feel the change in the way everybody reacts and talks and there is a festive mood everywhere. You are confronted with the ‘”Sale” sign wherever you go and quite suddenly, the shopping bug bites you too. You hardly feel like working anymore in the offices and even the discussion there is centered on Christmas. Children too join in and are swept away by the preparations leading to the big night. It is quite natural for Christmas music for children to join the popularity ranks too. Kids music plays a huge role in the celebrations and children find their own way of making the occasion a memorable one.

Special Place For Music

It has been widely discussed that music has a special place in the life of every kid. It influences his entire life and helps to add purpose to his life. His happiness is expressed through music and his desolate moments also find solace through soulful music. But Christmas music for children has scaled new heights with kids getting attracted to it like nothing else. There will hardly be a single soul who has not heard of Santa Claus and “Jingle Bells”. Children wait with bated breath to open their stockings and find the presents which Santa has gifted them. And if these gifts include personalized kids CDs, then they are really overjoyed.

Learn About The Culture

Christmas music for children has a special role to play in the life of every child. They not only get into the Christmas mood and enjoy all the festivities going round but also get to know more about the culture through these songs. Christmas is the time to remember Jesus Christ and celebrate his birth. The carols sung during Christmas are all tributes to the great son of God. It is important for the children to learn more about their religion and how the Christmas atmosphere helps in overcoming the evil. The positive effects of kids music can be felt when the kids turn out in large numbers to attend church and sing the carols along with their parents.

Arrange For Fun Games

The environment is so charged up that you can even feel the healthy vibes that are transmitted throughout. There is a chance to forget all about the miseries of life and get totally immersed in enjoying the festive season. Planning parties for children can be fun during Christmas. A quiz can be arranged based on the stories of Jesus’ birth and his life. You can include Christmas music for children during these sessions to bring a touch of entertainment for the kids. Kids will love to take part in these quiz shows and this is certain to have a positive effect on them.

Messages Spread Through Christmas

If history is to be believed, then the puritans did not have any liking for Christmas carols. They discouraged the singing of carols and frowned upon their being sung in any congregation during Christmas. With the passing years, the puritans lost their hold and carols became popular throughout the world. This was towards the nineteenth century when people realized the joy of celebrating Christmas and helping their kids have a good time too. Christmas songs for children began to be sung in full steam and kids discovered the message of goodwill that was spread through music.

Media Will Pitch in

With the advances made in technology, kids music has found great popularity through CDs and MP3s. The Internet has become a great medium to spread the cheer. Be it classical carols or new renditions; all of them can be sung when you get around the Christmas tree and celebrate Christmas in style.

Z Kids Music specializes in offering kids personalized music by incorporating the child’s name in the song. You can order your personalized kids CDs at http://zkidsmusic.com.
